How to Apply 3D Silicone Patches onto Football Shirts (Heat Press & Household Iron)
🌡️ Quick Reference Guide
| Pressing Method | Temperature (°C) | Front Press (Tack) | Inside-Out Press (Main Bond) | Pressure Level |
| Professional Heat Press | 140°C – 145°C | 8 – 10 seconds | 20 seconds | Medium-High (4 bar) |
| Household Iron | ~140°C (Polyester/2 Dots) | 12 seconds | 25 – 30 seconds | Heavy Body Weight |
🏭 Method 1: Professional Heat Press
-
Set Machine Parameters: Set your heat press to 140°C – 145°C and pressure to Medium-High.
-
Pre-press the Jersey: Press shirt for 3 seconds with a Teflon sheet.
-
Position Silicone Patch: Place the 3D silicone patch on the target sleeve or chest area.
-
Step 1 — Front Tack (8–10 Seconds): Cover with a Teflon sheet and press briefly to tack patch position. (Rubber insulates heat, so top pressing alone won’t melt the glue).
-
Step 2 — Inside-Out Main Bond (20 Seconds): Turn jersey inside out. Cover patch back with a Teflon sheet and press firmly for 20 seconds to melt adhesive directly through shirt fabric.
-
Cool Down: Allow garment to rest flat until cold before testing rubber flexibility.
🏠 Method 2: Household Iron
-
Iron & Surface Prep: Set iron to Polyester / Synthetic (~140°C). Turn steam 100% OFF. Work on a hard, flat tabletop.
-
Pre-iron Area: Iron target area for 3 seconds.
-
Position & Cover: Position silicone patch and cover with parchment paper.
-
Step 1 — Front Tack (12 Seconds): Press straight down vertically with firm force to hold patch in place.
-
Step 2 — Inside-Out Main Bond (25–30 Seconds): Flip jersey inside out. Place parchment paper over the back side and apply maximum downward body weight for 30 seconds.
-
Set Under Weight: Place a heavy book over the patch for 5 minutes while it cools.
💡 Pro Tip: Dense 3D silicone rubber blocks top-down heat transfer. Pressing from the inside-out is mandatory to properly melt thermo-glue into football shirt fabric without melting or distorting the rubber details on the front.
